    “If you’ve been brave and in the wood”
    Very little of the poem can be read literally. So consider this thought on Fenn-speak.
    Brave = Indian Brave = Red Man = Red
    In the Wood + Red = In the Redwood
    Redwood is decay and bug resistant. If the TC was inside a redwood box or similar container; log, etc, perhaps it could be safely concealed near water without danger of damage.
    FF was fastenated by all things Native American and collected, spoke and wrote frequently of them.
