If you've been wise and found the blaze
just take the chest and go in peace.

Your effort will be worth the cold
If you are brave and in the wood...

Note how the verse goes from blaze to cold, when seemingly referring to the same place.

So, you've been wise, now comes the question 'are you brave', and it is assumed that you have found the blaze and are in the wood.
Having met all of the above requirements, you are now told to just take the chest and go in peace.
So where does cold fit into all of this ? More on that later. Right now, I'm focused on the wise and peace.
    ================================================== ===============================

'go in peace', is a salutation addressed to someone who is departing,
    a salutation is an invocation.
It is also used as a prayer for the departed.
As I have gone alone in there.

Wise, and peace. How do they tie together ... wisdom and peace.

    Solomon was wise.
    Solomon means peace, in Hebrew.

    ( doyen works well )

If you've been wise, go in peace.

If you nail that one down, you've made it to the dean's list.
    ================================================== ==========

There are wigs of a persuasion that believe Solomon never existed.
They believe this, because no hard drive has ever been found.

Sounds not too unlike the chase. One won't know they have the first clue nailed down until they find the chest ...

    Solomon
    Hercules
    Atlas
    Zeus
    Achilles
    Mercury

          I'll go with what's behind door #4 ...
          https://www.powerthesaurus.org/bar/synonyms

          tarry,halt,cease,rainbow,sedan,bear down,interrupt,
leave, string, anchor(put-in), burden, cashier, secrete, X, answer,
blaze, bring to an end, end, evacuate, f, ford, hideaway, hint, key, put foot down, put on ice(keep it in a vault),

threshold, borderline, chase, down, draw, good, guillotine, load, log,
nail down, palace, picket fence, pickle, pie, play hooky, pool hall, portal, take, TIGHT SPOT,
give, alone, be well(go in peace), can, go, middle, weakness.

That's a lot of words that are found within the poem...
          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BAR is a good word to study.

'bar' will actually give you WHERE warm waters halt.
It's kinda tricky, and I won't say how.

Maybe all of this is bull, and I don't have a clue. who knows.

But, answer me this ... What is the very first thing one needs, to find the first clue, that we all know is 'Begin it where warm waters halt ...'

What is it that we, at this point, need to find ?

Strip off all the cosmetics and the obvious answer is that we are needing to find WATER.
Whether the water is plural, warm, or halted, is irrelevant at this point.
The core of what we are looking for, is water.

If'n yer tryin' to find water, then ya gotta have a ... waterfinder.
          https://www.powerthesaurus.org/waterfinder/synonyms

Now, there's over four-thousand words to choose from in the 'bar' link I posted above.
There are dozens and dozens of nice synonyms in there.

One of them tells you where warm waters halt.

          imo, blah blah blah...

Forrest has emphasized more than once, that he felt like an architect constructing the poem.
He has also stressed how it is important to 'think' and 'plan'.
He has further stated that the blueprint is challenging.

Okay, what's the first thing an architect does ?
He Thinks, and comes up with a Plan.

Step 2, he lays the groundwork.
Step 3, he draws up the foundation.

Now, the most obvious architectural reference that I see in the poem is, 'put in below the home...'

Okay, that looks like a good place to start in an attempt to see how the total of the poem is constructed with all of the individual components.

              https://www.powerthesaurus.org/lay_the_foundation

And, I've said many times that 'found the blaze' might possibly mean to establish the blaze, instead of having found it prior to this position of the clue sequence.
Personally, I use it both ways, they work together.
You have to 'find' it, and then you also must 'found' it. Yes, it's complicated without just spelling it out.
(EDIT : I believe the blaze is a physical feature, while also believing that it requires a secondary interpretation that allows you to move forward from that point.)

Lay the foundation below the home of Brown.

What is another meaning of 'lay the foundation' ?
How about ... Set The Bar ?

Now, if you can figure out what 'home of Brown' is, then the bar that you must set will be so obvious that you will recognize it immediately. If, on the other hand, you are still chasing brown trout and ol' man Brown, then this will mean absolutely nothing to you.

You will NOT find home of Brown if you are Guessing at wwwh.

              They identify each other.

And, that's the point of all of this.

              Identification.

                Identification. hmmm...

                identify

                =======================================

Okay, we talked about that somewhere but, I'm not going to look for it.
Anyway, let's just take another look at it.

                inspect=
                take a look at
                give the once over
                eyeball
                examine closely
                look down
put the lid on (keep my secret)
                quest
                seek
                set eyes on
                tarry
                Verifies
                burrow (put in)
                have a good look at

Anyway, you get the idea ... Inspect = Marvel (and) Gaze.

But, that's not all, folks ...

"Hey Forrest, you said we could retrieve the treasure in any season. Well in winter, would we need a snowmobile to get to the spot? ~scout around"

"Scout around, if you need a snowmobile to get to your solve please stay home and drink hot chocolate. f "
                = = = = = = = = =

inspect = scout around, spot .

                  scout around spot.

                  inspect around your spot.
                  inspect a round spot.
a scout is/was, around the spot.

                  A surveyor is a scout.

                  a scout is a guide.
                  a benchmark is a guide.

                  searchers are scouts.
a searcher is around the spot?
a searcher has a benchmark at their spot?

                  check.

                        Benchmarks..... yes.

Maps have benchmarks. Some of the maps provided by fenn have benchmarks and some do not and some have evolved with none then magically appear. Benchmarks.

In my research it has been pretty evenly split. About half I can find the handle on the blogs and about half i think are hints/clues.

What a long strange trip it's been ...

What are some of the strange things you have encountered in the chase ?

I see the word 'quest' everywhere.
I met an old man with a dog named ****** . (the dog, not the old man.)
I found a rock in a tree with a word on it. (the rock). That word was already a huge part of my solve. I left the rock in the tree and continued my hike to a location I was wanting to check out. When I came back through, the rock was gone. Old men playing tricks on old men ?
I went to obtain an additional copy of my map but, it was no longer available. Good thing I have three or four already.

What is the very last thing the poem tells you to look for ?
